Beckett Cypheridge was 21 years old and son of Melissa Etheridge, on May 13th in a tweet a representative confirmed his death. Beckett Cypheridge was born in November 1998 to Melissa Etheridge and filmmaker Julie Cypher, he also had a sister named Bailey Jean, 23.
By looking at Beckett Cypheridge’s Facebook page he was working at The Westin Snowmass Resort in Snowmass Village, Colorado since 2017 and lives in Littleton, Colorado, at a time. However, he passed away at the age of 21, his mother Melissa released a statement.
“Today I joined the hundreds of thousands of families who have lost loved ones to opioid addiction. My son Beckett, who was just 21, struggled to overcome his addiction and finally succumbed to it today. He will be missed by those who loved him, his family, and his friends. My heart is broken.
I am grateful for those who have reached out with condolences and I feel their love and sincere grief. We struggle with what else we could have done to save him, and in the end, we know he is out of the pain now. I will sing again, soon. It has always healed me.”
Rosie O’Donnell and George Takei tweeted their condolences after hearing this news, O’Donnell wrote on Twitter “all my love to Melissa Etheridge on the loss of her beautiful boy Beckett … no words #onlylove.” Then, “My heart is heavy for Melissa Etheridge, whose son Beckett Cypher has died at the young age of 21. Nothing is harder than a parent losing their child. We are with you, Melissa.” Takei tweeted.
An interesting fact is, the sperm for the Beckett and Bailey Jean Cypheridge was donated by music legend David Crosby. Furthermore, Etheridge has two other children with the actress Tammy Lynn Michaels named (twins) Miller and Johnnie Etheridge.
Beckett Cypheridge’s parents got separated in September 2000 but after a year they reunited to share custody of their children. Moreover, once Melissa Etheridge considered asking Brad Pitt to be the sperm donor before David Crosby, in 2015 David was asked by the fan what his David Crosby with Bailey and Beckett (Dead), he replied: “I love them.”
In another Tweet, he replied to the question Do you see Bailey and Beckett a lot? Are they part of your life?” he wrote “Not as much as I’d like. More than I expected.”
