As phase-4 of MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) is all set to entertain its fans by introducing new characters in the franchise and also some of the sequels are still under production.
As the fans witnessed how Tony Starks aka Iron Man died in the Avengers: Endgame and also received a Hero’s funeral featuring every character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans still want him back, no matter how MCU plays with the laws of Time and Nature. However, this idea of having Downey back to MCU was not considered for anything other than a small role or voiceover. However, this might actually be possible now after introducing the concept of the multiverse.
The idea of parallel Universe- also known as Multiverse has always been played around in comic books – spheres of existence where one particular hero can live his or her life very differently in the other universe from the classic story most casual fans know.
Moreover, this concept was not introduced in superhero movies or TV shows for many years because of reasons like the technology wasn’t there and there was a feeling that the multiverse might confuse fans. However, now the reality of different and technology has caught up, and so have the movies and TV shows.
The MCU has brought the concept of the multiverse in Spiderman: Far From Home, although the multiverse didn’t truly come to play there but will obviously come around again. Since, an upcoming Marvel movie Dr. Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness would introduce the concept in more depth.
Recently, ScreenRant had discussed the idea of Robert Downey’s return as Iron Man, which quotes the actor himself trying to have it both ways. He said: “Yeah anything could happen and I’m really enjoying …as far as I’m concerned I’ve hung up my guns and I’m good to let it go. I also think that MCU is on this journey now where they’re trying a bunch of other stuff. I’m excited for them to see how all of that goes.”
Although Iron Man aka Tony Stark is dead in the timeline where Endgame left off, that doesn’t mean there isn’t any possibility of bringing him back in an alternate timeline. Even the MCU fans are really excited to have Tony Stark back in the Marvels and they might have to wait a little longer on how this might end.
Moreover, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige also mentioned on this “multiverse,” suggesting that it’s “the key to the MCU’s future.”
