JK Rowling famous for the Harry Potter series is surrounded by yet another controversy regarding Transgenders, the British Author is facing severe backlash after she posted a series of tweets over the last week.

JK Rowling

The Author drew outrage on Twitter after she criticized after mocking a headline about “people who menstruate.” On Saturday, she tweeted “‘People who menstruate.’ I’m sure they’re used to be a word for those people,” she tweeted and added “Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?”

There was a worldwide outrage over the J.K. Rowling’s comment over the phrase those who mensurate, JK Rowling Tweeted this while tagging the article published in Devex.com, then she continued with another thread of tweets speaking about the concept of biological sex. The Author wrote “If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth.”

J.K. Rowling tweets caused an uproar, a Harry Potter fan group tweeted its disapproval of the post, and encouraged followers to a group that supports transgender women, the LGBTQ advocacy organization GLAAD also issued a response on the twitter calling the Author tweet’s inaccurate and cruel. They wrote, “If you want to direct your rightful anger over JK Rowling’s latest anti-trans comments into something positive, support orgs that help Black trans people like @MPJInstitute, @blacktransusa, @TransJusticeFP,@Genderintell and @ukblackpride.”

Later, in another Tweet, the organization wrote “JK Rowling continues to align herself with an ideology which willfully distorts facts about gender identity and people who are trans. In 2020, there is no excuse for targeting trans people.”

Many celebrities shared their angst on their social media handles. However, the author swiftly tried to patch the outrage over the tweets which were seen as anti trance, J.K. Rowling Rowling wrote “I respect every trans person’s right to live any way that feels authentic and comfortable to them. I’d march with you if you were discriminated against on the basis of being trans. At the same time, my life has been shaped by being female. I do not believe it’s hateful to say so.”

In fact, even the last year J.K. Rowling made similar controversy for showing support for Maya Forstater a researcher who stated that people cannot change their biological sex the researcher had been a visiting fellow at the Center for Global Development and was fired from her job.
