Jada Pinkett Smith is denying August Alsina’s claims that Will Smith gave his “blessing” for their extramarital relationship. This week August Alsina made headlines after his interview with The Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee was posted on YouTube.
In the Interview, they mostly discussed his new album during the hour-long sit-down, but the rumors about him dating Jada also came up. Later, Angela asked August “What was the real situation with Jada Pinkett Smith cause I don’t know if you were pursuing her or if you guys just had a close family type of relationship.”
To this August replied “Here’s what I’ll say. People can have whatever ideas that they like, but what I’m not ok with is my character being in question when certain things are questions that I know its not me or that I know I haven’t done.”
Furthermore, he added “Contrary to what some people believe, I’m not a troublemaker. I don’t like drama. The drama actually makes me nauseous… I also don’t think that it’s ever-important for people to know what I do, who I sleep with, who I date.. lost money, friendships, relationships behind it and I think it because people dont necessarily know the truth, but I’ve never done anything wrong. I love those people.”
However, August has hinted at a relationship with Jada in the past on a few occasions, specifically in his song “Nunya” where there are some subtle references to her. In an interview, he said, “I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership that they’ve spoken on several times and it not involving romanticism.”
In 2018, Will Smith explained why he and Jada use the term “life partners” when referring to their union as opposed to “married.” Later, in an Interview, Will Smith told “We don’t even say we’ve married anymore. We refer to ourselves as life partners, where you get into that space where you realize you are literally with somebody for the rest of your life. There are no deal-breakers. There’s nothing she could do — ever.”
However, August Alsina caught many fans’ attention when in his recent interview, he said that Will gave him permission to have a relationship with Jada. He said, “He gave me his blessing and I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life and I truly and really, really deeply loved and have a ton of love for her.”
Furthermore, he revealed why he’s tried to stay quiet about the relationship for so long saying, “I never want to be the person to cause confusion because I love these people. I really genuinely do and I have literally never been in love in that kind of away, so much so that being intertwined in that way — walking away from it butchered me.” He further said that the alleged split “probably will be the hardest thing that I’ve ever experienced in this lifetime.”
