On March 18, 2021, at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Uber driver Subhakar Khadka who is 32-year-old was attacked by Arna Kimiai along with two other friends. The victim told that he received three women passengers, after a few minutes of the ride he realized that one of the passengers did not wear a mask, so he asked her to wear a mask until then he would not start the journey and stopped the ride.
The woman at the back starts berating the Uber driver and she grabbed his phone and ripped off the facemask that he wore. Later, the driver asked the girls to get out of the car but these women started using cuss words on him and repeatedly coughing at him. After few minutes, he said to passengers that everything is got recorded and the girls eventually got down from the cab and one of them reached out near the driving window and sprayed something at the driver, which is said to be pepper spray.
The Uber driver Subhakar Khadka says, he was being mocked and harassed by those women passengers because he is an immigrant South Asian and said “I never said anything bad to them, I never cursed, I was not raised that way. I don’t hit people, I am not raised that way, so they were not getting out of my car”. However, Arna Kimiai has been release on bail at $75,000. After her release, she was found smoking cannabis while driving and that video she shared on March 15th, 2021 on Instagram and captioned it “Who’s in jail right now??”.
