Ida Vinterberg was the daughter of Thomas Vinterberg who is a Danish film director. Ida died on May 4, 2019, in a highway car accident in Belgium while shooting “Another Round” which is a life-affirming movie about alcohol and friendship, it has won the Oscar award for the Best International Feature Film on Sunday 25th April 2021. Thomas paid tribute to his daughter while accepting his Oscar award. During his speech, while accepting his Oscar, the actor remembered his late daughter, who died while shooting the movie in 2019. During his speech he said “Most importantly I want to thank my daughter Ida, who is no longer here. She was more enthusiastic about this project than anyone else had ever been” added “It made her miss her hometown, Copenhagen, and now we miss her. And we made this movie for her.”
He later told “Ida loved this, and she felt seen by this, and she was supposed to be in this, and if anyone dares to believe that she’s here with us somehow, you’ll be able to see her clapping and cheering with us. We ended up making this movie for her as her monument. So, Ida, this is a miracle that just happened, and you’re a part of this miracle. Maybe you’ve been pulling some strings somewhere, I don’t know, but this one is for you.” After Thomas Vinterberg’s speech, many of his fans took Twitter and wrote about the great speech.
