In March 2017, Stefanik opposed Trump’s 2017 executive order imposing a temporary ban by nationals of seven Muslim-majority countries. In 2019, Elise Stefanik supported Donald Trump and defended him during his 2019 impeachment in the Trump–Ukraine scandal. Later, she also supported a lawsuit that attempted to overturn Trump’s electoral defeat in the 2020 election and after the 2021 storming of the United States Capitol, she made false claims of fraud. In May 2021, she described Trump as the “strongest supporter of any president when it comes to standing up for the Constitution.”
During the 115th United States Congress, she was ranked as the 19th most bipartisan member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
