Jill Mortimer is the Tory Candidate who defeated Labour rival Paul Williams with 15,529 votes, on May 7th, 2021 the election result was out and Jill was way ahead of Labour’s Paul Williams on 8,589 votes. In 2019, the by-election was called in Hartlepool after Mike Hill was suspended by the party over Woman Harassment, but Hill denied the allegation, which sparked the by-election battle in the Northern seat.
In 1974, the Hartlepool constituency was formed and every time Labour Party won the election until May 7th, 2021, but between 1959 to 1954 it was under Conservative, after winning the position Jill Mortimer said it was a “truly historic” result, adding “Not only that, I am the first woman ever to be elected as MP for this town,” and continued Labour have taken people in Hartlepool for granted for too long. I heard this time and time again on the doorstep and people have had enough and now, through this result, the people have spoken and have made it clear it is time for a change.” The Health Secretary tweeted “Huge congratulations to @Jill4Hartlepool on winning the Hartlepool by-election. This historic victory shows that the @Conservatives are delivering on the people’s priorities. A fantastic achievement & I look forward to working with you.”
On April 28th, 2021 Jill Mortimer visited specialist water treatment firm HydroChem Group which is based on the Graythorp Retail Estate, Jill discussed with the firm and said will help them in the coming months and years. During her campaign, she listed her priorities to help the Hartlepool constituency with Jobs, attracting new business and unlocking new opportunities. On May 6th, 2021 Jill Mortimer was selected as the Conservative candidate for the Hartlepool by-election, after Jill was named as the Conservative candidate she said “I am thrilled to be selected as the Conservative candidate for Hartlepool,” and added, “I know it will be a very tough fight, but I cannot wait to get out campaigning to get my message across to everyone living and working in the town.”
Later, Jill continued “Helping Hartlepool to bounce back and thrive after this terrible pandemic will be at the heart of my campaign,” and added “The Government is committed to leveling up across the country and if elected as Hartlepool’s MP I want to make sure this town is at the center of the post-pandemic recovery by creating more jobs and apprenticeships and attracting extra investment to the town. I want to show I am the best candidate to represent Hartlepool and how my plan will improve lives for families here.”

Marcus Killick is the Ex-husband of Jill Mortimer aka Jill Killick and they share three children. He started his career at Midland Bank International as a Graduate Trainee from 1985 to 1987. He later worked as a Compliance Officer at IMRO in 1987. From 1988 to 1990, he served as a Compliance Manager at Spicer & Oppenheim. And, in 1990, he served at National & Provincial as a Compliance Manager for over 3 years, he was responsible for regulatory compliance for the N&P group, including the Building Society, independent financial advisory arm, its life company, and unit trust operations.
In 1993, he served as a Deputy Chief Executive at Isle of Man Financial Supervision Commission for over 4 years. Also, worked as a Head of Banking, Trusts, and Investment Services at Cayman Islands Monetary Authority from 1997 to 1998. From 1998 to 2003, he served as a Director at KPMG UK, where he directed the Financial International Regulatory Services Team. For over 10 years he served as a Chief Executive Officer at the Financial Services Commission from Apr 2003 to Feb 2014. Later, he worked at Gibraltar Stock Exchange as a Chairman in Sep 2014. He also worked as a Non-executive member for three different companies like Tradewise Insurance Company Ltd, Gibraltar International Bank, and Independent Monitoring Authority (IMA) from Sep 2014 to Dec 2020.
Currently, he is working at ISOLAS as a Chief Executive Officer, where he is responsible for the Governance of the firm – Including mediating disputes between partners, Chairing the Management Committee; and recommending changes to the partnership agreement, and Coordinating Public Relations. He attended King’s College School Wimbledon in 1971. Later, he earned a Bachelor of Laws – LLB from the University of Leeds in 1985. He is also a part proprietor and owner of Gibraltar Magazine.
However, Jill later married William Nicholas Mortimer. Earlier the couple used to run a small business hand-rearing Dexter cows, also used to sell lamb and beef meat. William also worked as an Office Assistant at Coles Law.
