The prosecutors in the Manhattan district attorney’s office have been examining bonuses and luxury perks that Mr. Weisselberg received including an apartment in Manhattan, private school tuition for at least one of his grandchildren, leased Mercedes-Benz cars, and whether taxes should have been paid on those benefits.
The lawyer for Weisselberg Mary Mulligan declined to comment and the spokesman for Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance declined to comment. Trump Organization lawyer didn’t respond to a request for comment yet. According to his former daughter-in-law Jennifer Weisselberg says, he was sitting for testimony many times in the Attorney General’s investigation into Trump’s finances and tax evasion allegations, he is currently cooperating in the investigation. Jennifer lawyer Duncan Levin says “We have been working with prosecutors for many months now as part of this tax and financial investigation and have provided a large volume of evidence that allowed them to bring these charges,” added, “We are gratified to hear that the DA’s office is moving forward with a criminal case.”
