Sergio Silvagni was an Australian rules footballer who represented Carlton in the Victorian Football League. He was born on 15 July 2021 in Melbourne, USA, he was 83 years at the time of his demise. During his school days, he was an outstanding schoolboy athlete. While competing for C.B.C. Clifton Hill in 1948 he won the Under-11 75-yard sprint at the Victorian Christian Brothers’ Combined Athletic Meeting. He played most of his career as a ruck rover. In 1968 and 1970, Silvagni played 239 games for the Blues and kicked 136 goals, winning two premierships. He won two best and fairest awards also captained the club. Silvagni retired at the end of 1971 but then held several off-field roles at Carlton, he served as a club’s committee, reserves coach, and as selector. In early 1978 he coached three senior games.
